Manchester United and Other Transfers
Last year was a busy season for the English Premier League. The fans saw Manchester United lift the trophy for 19 times in their history breaking a record for english teams to reach that number. One of the major motivations that their team had was the new signing of their young player Javier Hernandez who scored a record of 20 goals in his debut season as a Manchester United player. Another major event was the record breaking signings made by the other English clubs. Manchester city spent over 100 million pounds to bring new faces such as David Silva, Edin Dzeko, Mario Balotelli, James Milner and Yaya Toure. On the other hand, the world witnessed a record breaking signing of the most expensive English player Andy Carrol who moved from Newcastle United to Liverpool Football club for a fee of 35 million pounds. This huge figure was financed by the dramatic move of Liverpool's striker Fernando Torres to Chelsea Football Club for a fee of 50 million pounds.
Manegerial Casualties
Liverpool have witnessed the departure of their manager Roy Hodgson At the start of the new year as he was replaced by their Welsh legend Kenny Dalgish. Due to a unsuccessful season with the reds, Roy Hodgson was sacked by the board of directors of Liverpool Football club as his spell of manager ended in less than 4 months. Liverpool has started their campaign with one of their worst performances as they found themselves lying 14th in the league table. Another casualty was the former manager of Chelsea Carlo Ancelotti. Oddly enough Carlo have secured the league title with Chelsea the previous year but was still sacked by the board of directors. The waste of money buying Fernando Torres from Liverpool was a major contribution that helped make his sacking a lot more easier. The huge money spent had cost chelsea the title. Instead of buying several young talents for the club, Carlo splashed his money on a single player which in return did not achieve what was expected of him.
